Scholarship Program

Applications are distributed to each of the High Schools in Saint Martin Parish in February.
  • The Louisiana Sheriff's Association Educational Scholarship Program awards a scholarship to a graduating high school student where the Sheriffs are members of the Louisiana Sheriff's Honorary Membership Program. The goal of the program is to provide assistance to worthy Louisiana students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the program. The scholarship is given to a graduating highs school senior (must be a resident of Saint Martin Parish) in the amount of $500.00. Applications are available beginning in February and completed applications must be submitted to the Saint Martin Parish Sheriff's Office by April 1st.   • The Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship Program: In 2012, Sheriff Ronald J. Theriot began awarding three $1,000.00 College Scholarships. These scholarships will be awarded to one Senior at each of the following schools: Breaux Bridge Senior High School, Saint Martinville Senior High School and Cecelia Senior Highs School.

 
Criteria for Applying for the 2012 Ronald J. THeriot Scholarship is as follows:
 
There will be no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, creed, color, age, sex, or national origin. The only limitations are as follows:
 
  • Applicant must be a resident of Saint Martin Parish
  • Open to any Senior at Breaux Bridge, Cecelia or Saint Martinville Senior High Schools
  • The applicant plans to be enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student for the Fall Semester in the year they are applying
  • The applicant must be eligible for admission to the school indicated on the applicaiton
  • The applicant must show a financial need by providing a copy of their parent's Tax return form
  • The applicaiton must be filled out fully and have all required documents attached at the time of submission

A committee of non-partisan citizens will review, evaluate, and select a winner. The names of the winners of the Ronald J. Theriot Scholarship will be announced in May of each year.
