ARREST MADE IN
CONNECTION WITH 2011 BURGLARY OF ACADIANA
MACK VOLVO
IN BREAUX BRIDGE
(St.
Martinville, La
.)-
On August 3, 2011,
the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint in regards to a
business burglary which occurred at Acadiana Mack Volvo in Breaux Bridge. The
Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and located a U-Haul truck in the ditch
near the business. Deputies responded to the scene and learned that the U-Haul
truck had been reported stolen from Houston Texas in July of 2011. Further
investigation showed that the U-Haul truck contained twenty tires and rims that
were reported stolen in Hattiesburg Mississippi. Based on the information that
was obtained and received, a warrant of arrest was issued for Ray Donald
Washington for the following charges:
Simple
Burglary
Illegal
Possession of Stolen Things and
Unauthorized
Use of a Moveable
Further
information also showed that this was part of an organized gang committing
these types of thefts in several different states. Due to the fact that this
was involving several different states, The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office
solicited the assistance of the United States Marshal's Violent Offender Task
Force, in apprehending the suspect.
Ray Donald Washington
On May 10, 2012, the United States Marshal's
Violent Offender Task Force apprehended Ray Donald Washington in Houston Texas.
He is currently awaiting extradition back to St. Martin Parish where he will
face the charges. Additional charges and arrests are currently pending. The
investigation is ongoing.
