Breaux Bridge Couple Arrested In Connection With Two Stolen Vehicles

(St. Martinville, LA.)-This morning, Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Cedrick Landry and Jessica Batiste in the 3400 block of Grandpoint Hwy., Breaux Bridge, in reference to an investigation regarding an October 4, 2018 stolen vehicle complaint.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined the couple transported the stolen vehicle to a local scrap yard on December 1, 2018, where the vehicle was salvaged after the contents and parts were removed. While executing the search warrant, investigators also recovered a stolen 2018 UTV, which was previously reported stolen out of Avoyelles Parish, on January 03, 2019. Investigators also determined the couple was operating a used car lot on their property, which they were not licensed to operate.

Following the execution of the warrant, they were arrested and charged as follows:

Cedrick Landry, 39, Breaux Bridge:

2 counts-La. R.S. 14:69B(2)- Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, over $5,000.00 (Felony)

1 count-La. R.S. 14:95.1- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies (Felony)

1 count-La. R.S. 40:966- Possession of Schedule I C.D.S. (Marijuana) (Misdemeanor)

Jessica Batiste, 37, Breaux Bridge:

1 count-La. R.S. 14:67.26- Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)

Following their arrests, they were both booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges. At the time of this release, no bond has been set and the investigation remains ongoing.
