Civil Bureau

The Saint Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Civil Bureau provides vital functions for the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Saint Martin Parish.

Core Response Unit: An elite specialty unit trained and equipped for expedient and expeditious response to executive security and high-risk response environments, via situational-specific deployment options.
Courtroom Services

The Saint Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office provides bailiffs for each session of the 16th Judicial District Court held in Saint Martin Parish. In accordance with Article 333 of the Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure, these bailiffs open and close each court session, maintain order and decorum, and summon witnesses.

Criminal Investigations Division The Saint Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is comprised of three investigative units to include Criminal Investigations, Juvenile Investigations and Narcotics Investigations.
Crisis Intervention Team Several Saint Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies have received specialized training to become Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officers and they are equipped to respond to persons who may be experiencing a mental health crisis event.
Patrol Services Bureau The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Services Bureau is comprised of seven specialty units to include Animal Control, Dive Team, K-9 Unit, Patrol, Patrol Reserves, S.E.R.T. Team and Water Patrol.
School Resource Officers

SROs are (Peace Officer Standards Training (P.O.S.T.) certified Law Enforcement Officers who receive specialized School Resource Officer training through the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and the National Association of School Resource Officers. Additionally, all of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers are also trained as Juvenile Officers, and are certified as Crisis Intervention Team Members for Adults and Juveniles. These additional trainings assist them in their day to day duties on campus as they interact with students, staff, and visitors on campus.
